Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service recently received a demonstration of Smoke Xcape. They were so impressed with the life saving
potential of the product that they have now incorporated it into their community fire safety toolkit.
John Davies, Home Safety Manager at Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, said "We saw the benefits of the device and decided to
assist with the testing of the product. We are delighted to incorporate this into our community fire safety toolkit, so that it
can be used to help some of our more vulnerable communities. Our Community Fire Safety Officers and advocates will be able to
identify people who they think may benefit from this valuable device and fit them in their homes."
Watch Manager Carl Rainburd added "It is a pleasure to be the first fire rescue service in the country to use this product
which compliments other community fire safety initiativesand smoke alarm campaigns. We look forward to working with Smoke Xcape
and continuing our efforts in making Merseyside a safer place to live."
Virtually every home now has smoke alarms fitted which is excellent news from a safety standpoint.
However, once the alarm has been raised, the next step is to get either out of the house / building or at least have access
to fresh air to avoid deadly smoke inhalation. This is where the brand new Smoke Xcape comes in. Smoke Xcape has been specifically
designed to work on all double glazed windows currently in use in the home (e.g. toughened and annealed units).
